Michael Joseph Jackson, né le 29 août 1958 à Gary dans l'Indiana à l'hopital Mercy, est un chanteur, auteur-compositeur et danseur-chorégraphe américain surnommé The King of Pop (en français le Roi de la Pop). Star planétaire dès son plus jeune age, il a battu tous les records de ventes de disques et détient encore à ce jour, celui de l'album le plus vendu au monde avec "Thriller" (environ 60 millions de copies vendues) sorti en décembre 1982. Malgré les controverses qu'il a le plus souvent orchestrées lui même, et les graves accusations finalement infondées dont il a fait l'objet, Michael Jackson reste une de figure majeure et incontournable de la musique noire américaine de ces 30 dernières années.
